She reached behind her and pulled out his gun, and pointed it at his chest. He tried to step back, but a purple aura flared around him and hoisted him into the air. Dropping the gun carelessly onto the floor, she floated into the air to once again look him in the eyes. "What do you want." He managed to choke out. "I want to teach you a lesson." She raised a fist as though to strike him, but instead, she started to unbutton the front of her plain red suit. Like a snake shedding his skin, she slipped out of it in one fluid movement, and dropped it onto the floor as well. Clad only in a light... (more)

Namely the male half, might have been willing to trade places with the self proclaimed father of the fourth Reich for just an instant as he woke to the inverted rearview sight of a certain lycanthrobe as she attempted to clean out a clogged cave mouth. But then most would have remembered how they came to be laying upside-down against the opposite cavern wall much less who had done it to them. The cause of the current discomfort of ridding up shorts would have certainly reminded them. But then again, they weren't this Murray. Brittany Diggers for her part was too worried to think about...
Murray Johnston was frighteningly stereotypical for his former profession if not his name. To be assured a Johnston, if not a Murray, had been on the beaches of Normandy and Okinawa. Had and was currently performing technical, medical or culinary artistry if not making works of art. There were also some who dug ditches, hauled garbage and mugged old ladies for a living just as anyone with or without a name was bound to do. But any Johnston, much less a Murray, would have only been too happy that an accountant who bore their name had changed it to Otto von Slegenhimer after an external audit... (more)

I've had this week marked down in my calendar for a couple of months now. It's a great week for anime releases: RahXephon 1 with box, X 4, Fruits Basket 3 and Berserk 5. All of my favorite series and then some. I almost felt overwhelmed when I saw that box waiting for me at the front door earlier this week. It's so much fun to be an anime fan right now. Of the four, I've only been able to watch a couple so far. Interesting they were the ones I've already previously seen: RX and FB. Like RadicalBender, I was impressed with what I saw. The colors are bright, the overall design is clean, and the... (more)

In an effort to cut down on expenses, I decided it was necessary to stop buying at least one series on DVD for the time being. In the end, it came down to either RahXephon or Ai Yori Aoshi. RahXephon, being the far better series, was poised to win the battle, but as I stood in the anime aisle at Best Buy this weekend, holding RahXephon Vol. 3 in one hand and Ai Yori Aoshi Vol. 3 in the other, I realized something: RahXephon is a 7 disc release, with an inconsistent episode count to boot. Ai Yori Aoshi, on the other hand, is a 5 disc release, with a set episode count of 5 per disc.

I have the chance to watch the first Ai Yori Aoshi DVD last night and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Anyone who's read what I've written here for long enough knows that Love Hina almost demolished my opinion of the harem genre, after years of enjoying stuff like Tenchi Muyo! and El-Hazard. Between Keitaro's long-running status of being an invertebrate and Naru's propensity to treat Keitaro at a level of respectability only slightly higher than that of a below-average throw rug, Love Hina managed to completely drive me up a wall simply because the "predestined love" between Keitaro...
