I have the chance to watch the first Ai Yori Aoshi DVD last night and I have to say that I really enjoyed it. Anyone who's read what I've written here for long enough knows that Love Hina almost demolished my opinion of the harem genre, after years of enjoying stuff like Tenchi Muyo! and El-Hazard. Between Keitaro's long-running status of being an invertebrate and Naru's propensity to treat Keitaro at a level of respectability only slightly higher than that of a below-average throw rug, Love Hina managed to completely drive me up a wall simply because the "predestined love" between Keitaro and Naru just isn't believable. I read quite a bit coming in about how a potentially good storyline was almost wrecked by mindless fan service, so I was wary, but I went ahead and ordered it anyway.
